TV, radio and DOOH advertising automation for Egypt

OpenMediaLogic can be deployed for Egyptian broadcasters, media sales houses, radio networks, out-of-home operators and agencies. It is not live in Egypt today: the platform runs in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, where 200+ media brands use it. This page describes what an Egyptian deployment would involve, in the market's own terms.

How Egypt trades, and what the platform connects to

  • Television audience is measured by Ipsos, which runs the market's television and cross-media audience studies and strengthened its regional measurement business with the acquisition of Seventh Decimal; television is planned and traded on ratings, GRP and cost per point, with the Ramadan season — when the year's drama is released and priced — as the centre of the calendar. The planning module takes the measurement data through the API and calculates GRP, CPP, reach and frequency on it.
  • Groups — United Media Services (UMS) owns and sells most of Egyptian commercial television (ON, CBC, DMC, Al Hayah and the sports and news channels), alongside Al Nahar and the state broadcaster's channels; UMS's advertising arm sells its own inventory and represents others. A group with a system of its own connects it through the API; a channel selling from spreadsheets runs its book on the platform.
  • Radio — the commercial networks (Nogoum FM, Nile FM, Radio 9090, Mega FM and others, several within UMS) and the state radio network sell airtime through their own sales teams. The radio module handles the schedule, rate cards, booking, certificates and reconciliation for a network of any size.
  • Out-of-home is a large and visible medium — the Cairo ring road, the corridors to the New Administrative Capital and the coastal cities — sold directly by a small number of national operators and many local ones, with digital screens growing. The platform runs the direct business — packages, bookings, proof of play, certificates — beside the TV and radio book.
  • Regulation — the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) licenses and regulates broadcast and online media and advertising, and issued new advertising rules in 2025 covering health, food, competitions and the placement of advertising around religious programmes; the Consumer Protection Agency acts against misleading advertising. Content and placement rules are enforced in scheduling; a spot's approval status attaches to the creative in trafficking.

Commercial and legal terms of an Egyptian deployment

  • Billing in EGP, VAT at 14%, through an Egyptian contracting entity
  • ETA e-invoicing — every VAT-registered business issues its business-to-business invoices electronically through the Egyptian Tax Authority's platform, and since 2025 consumer transactions require e-receipts as well. The platform issues every closing document — invoice, certificate of airing, reconciliation — from the record the booking was made in, and an Egyptian deployment connects that output to the ETA platform through the API
  • Hosting and data residency in Egypt, under the Personal Data Protection Law (Law 151 of 2020); role-based access, encryption in transit and at rest, audit log — see security
  • Interface in English; an Arabic interface is part of an Egyptian deployment
  • Integration through the REST API: measurement data, playout and automation, agency planning and finance systems, accounting and the ETA platform
  • Onboarding in 48 hours for the platform itself, reference data migration included

Where the platform fits in Egypt

Egyptian television is unusually concentrated: one group owns and sells most of it, and runs systems of its own. A deployment there is a marketplace layer between that group, the other broadcasters and the agencies, connected through the API — the alternatives page describes that relationship. The stronger fit is the rest of the market: the independent and regional channels, the radio networks, the out-of-home operators' direct business, and the agencies — and a media group that owns channels, stations and screens and wants to sell all three from one place with one set of documents through the ETA. In the platform's three live markets that is where the results came from: up to 95% of a country's TV inventory on one platform; −32% media costs for a national advertiser (Beeline); +47% occupancy for a national broadcaster (NTRC Uzbekistan).

Questions buyers in Egypt ask

Is there one system that connects a TV channel, a radio station or a screen operator with the agencies and advertisers who buy from it?

Yes — that is what OpenMediaLogic is. The seller publishes inventory, availability and prices; the agency or advertiser plans and books against them online; the seller confirms; and the schedule, the certificate of airing, the reconciliation and the invoice come out of the same record. It covers TV, radio and digital out-of-home in one system, so a media group sells channels, stations and screens from one place and an agency buys all three in one plan.

One group sells most of Egyptian TV. What does a platform like this do for the rest of us?

It gives an independent channel, a radio network or an out-of-home operator the same thing the big group has — online booking against live availability, certificates and invoices from one record — and it gives the agencies one place to book from all of them. The platform connects to the big group's systems through the API where that is wanted.

Does it work with Ipsos measurement and the SCMR's advertising rules?

Measurement data comes in through the API and the plan is calculated on it — GRP, CPP, reach, frequency. Content and placement rules — including the 2025 rules on health and food advertising and on advertising around religious programmes — are enforced when a spot is placed.

Can it issue our invoices through the ETA e-invoicing platform?

The platform issues every closing document from the booking record, and an Egyptian deployment connects that output to the Egyptian Tax Authority's platform through the API.

Is there an Arabic interface, and where is the data hosted?

The interface is in English today; an Arabic interface is part of an Egyptian deployment. Billing is in EGP with VAT through an Egyptian contracting entity, and data is hosted in Egypt under Law 151/2020. The platform is not live in Egypt yet; a demo on your own inventory takes 30 minutes.
