TV, radio and DOOH advertising automation for Turkey
OpenMediaLogic can be deployed for Turkish television groups, radio networks, out-of-home operators, sales teams and agencies. It is not live in Turkey today: the platform runs in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, where 200+ media brands use it. This page describes what a Turkish deployment would involve, in the Turkish market's own terms — and it exists in Turkish as well, because that is the language the market buys in.
How Turkey trades, and what the platform connects to
- Television audience is measured by TİAK (Televizyon İzleme Araştırmaları A.Ş.), the industry's joint measurement company, with Kantar as its technology contractor; television is planned and traded on ratings, GRP and cost per point, with prime-time and daypart pricing and seasonal rate cards. The planning module takes TİAK data through the API and calculates GRP, CPP, reach and frequency on it.
- Groups — Turkuvaz, Demirören, Ciner, Doğuş, Acun Medya and the other national broadcasters — sell their own airtime through their own sales units rather than through independent sales houses; sponsorship, product placement and programme-integrated formats are a large share of the book beside spot advertising. The platform models sponsorship and integration as inventory with their own terms, next to the spot grid. A group with a traffic system of its own connects it through the API; a channel selling on spreadsheets and e-mail runs its book on the platform.
- Radio audience is measured by RİAK (Radyo Dinleme Hizmetleri A.Ş.), which moved to electronic measurement with Kantar as contractor; the national groups and the several hundred regional and local stations sell airtime through their own sales teams. The radio module handles the schedule, rate cards, booking, certificates and reconciliation for a group of any size, and is where a system pays off fastest in a market this fragmented.
- Out-of-home — Ströer, JCDecaux and the regional operators sell classic and digital inventory directly; the outdoor industry's İzle study provides reach and frequency for planning. The platform runs the direct business — packages, bookings, proof of play, certificates — beside the TV and radio book, and leaves programmatic DOOH to the supply-side platforms.
- Regulation and clearance — RTÜK (Radyo ve Televizyon Üst Kurulu) licenses broadcasters and enforces the broadcasting law, including advertising time limits per hour; the Advertising Board (Reklam Kurulu) under the Ministry of Trade sanctions misleading advertising; the Advertising Self-Regulatory Board (RÖK) handles industry complaints. Advertising time limits are enforced in the scheduling step, and a spot's approval status attaches to the creative in trafficking.
Commercial and legal terms of a Turkish deployment
- Billing in TRY, KDV (VAT) applied on invoices, through a Turkish contracting entity — the same local-entity arrangement the platform uses in its current markets
- e-Fatura and e-Arşiv — Turkish invoicing runs through the Revenue Administration's (GİB) electronic invoice system, which most companies are obliged to use. The platform issues the closing documents of every deal — invoices, broadcast certificates, reconciliations — and a Turkish deployment connects them to the e-Fatura workflow through the API rather than leaving them to be re-keyed
- Hosting and data residency in Turkey, under the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, Law No. 6698) and its rules on cross-border transfer; role-based access, encryption in transit and at rest, audit log — see security
- Interface in Turkish — one of the platform's 16 languages, already in use on this site — with English available to every user
- Integration through the REST API: TİAK and RİAK data, playout and automation systems, agency planning and finance systems, accounting and e-Fatura
- Onboarding in 48 hours for the platform itself, reference data migration included; integrations follow at the pace of the systems on the other side
Where the platform fits in Turkey
Turkey has a domestic vendor of media operations software — Maestro (Maestack) — used by media companies for advertising operations across TV, radio, print, cinema and outdoor, and the international traffic-and-scheduling vendors (VSN, Orsatek, Marsis) are present through local partners. Those are station-side systems: they run a channel's or a group's own operation. OpenMediaLogic is the layer that puts the seller and the buyer in one record — the agency books against live availability and prices, the channel confirms, the certificate and the invoice come out of the same record — and connects to a station-side system through the API where one exists. The alternatives page describes that relationship in general. The stronger fit in Turkey is where no such system is shared: regional and thematic channels selling their own airtime, radio groups and the long tail of local stations, out-of-home operators' direct business, and agencies outside the largest groups — the parts of the market that still book by e-mail and spreadsheet. That is where the platform's three live markets started, and where their results came from: up to 95% of a country's TV inventory on one platform; −32% media costs for a national advertiser (Beeline); +47% occupancy for a national broadcaster (NTRC Uzbekistan).
Questions buyers in Turkey ask
Is there one system that connects a TV channel, a radio station or a screen operator with the agencies and advertisers who buy from it?
Yes — that is what OpenMediaLogic is. The seller publishes inventory, availability and prices; the agency or advertiser plans and books against them online; the seller confirms; and the schedule, the certificate of airing, the reconciliation and the invoice come out of the same record. It covers TV, radio and digital out-of-home in one system, so a media group sells channels, stations and screens from one place and an agency buys all three in one plan.
We sell airtime by e-mail and Excel and lose track of what is booked. Can this replace that without a year-long IT project?
The platform itself goes live in 48 hours with your rate cards, grid and counterparties loaded; integrations with a traffic system, e-Fatura or TİAK data follow through the REST API at the pace of those systems. The three live markets started exactly from e-mail and spreadsheets.
Does it work with TİAK ratings and RİAK radio data, and with RTÜK advertising time limits?
Audience data comes in through the API and the plan is calculated on it — GRP, CPP, reach, frequency. Advertising time limits per hour are enforced when a spot is placed, and a spot without approval status cannot be scheduled.
Can it issue our invoices through e-Fatura?
The platform issues every closing document — invoice, broadcast certificate, reconciliation — from the booking record, and a Turkish deployment connects that output to the GİB e-Fatura workflow through the API instead of re-keying it.
Is it available in Turkish, and can we bill in lira?
Yes on both. Turkish is one of the platform's 16 interface languages, billing is in TRY with KDV through a Turkish contracting entity, and data is hosted in Turkey under KVKK. The platform is not live in Turkey yet; a demo on your own inventory takes 30 minutes.
