Glossary
A glossary of the advertising market
The ideas airtime sales run on, explained in plain language and without industry shorthand. One page per term: what it is, how it is calculated, and why anyone looks at it.
Campaign metrics
- GRP — the sum of the ratings of every airing of a spot
- wGRP — the same GRP, adjusted for spot length and position in the break
- CPP — what one rating point costs
Inventory and selling it
- Airtime occupancy — how much of the advertising time has been sold
- Programmatic TV — buying airtime by rules instead of by negotiation
After the campaign
- Post-buy — checking what you got against what you planned
- Pacing — whether the campaign is delivering on schedule, while it still can be fixed
- Makegood — replacement airtime when the schedule did not deliver
- Broadcast certificate — the document a broadcaster confirms airings with
- Affidavit — the same proof, as the English-speaking market names it
- Proof of play — what DOOH uses in place of it
Selling the inventory
- Avails — the slots a broadcaster still has open to sell
- Daypart — how the broadcast day is divided, and why that sets the price
None of this has to be calculated by hand: in OpenMediaLogic the arithmetic runs as the plan is built. Common questions about the platform itself are in the questions and answers.
